Swiss Expat Story: Henrietta in Oxfordshire, UK
by MySwissWorld & Swiss Food Box Team
We welcome you to our newest interview in our weekly series. Here we interview each week somebody from the community and learn a bit more about their lives. This week, from Oxfordshire, United Kingdom:
Henrietta Senn, a UK resident currently living in Oxfordshire, has a deep connection to Switzerland due to her Swiss heritage. Having spent six years of her schooling in Lausanne, Henrietta still has family in Switzerland and visits them several times a year.
What is your name and where are you living now?
Hello, my name is Henrietta Senn, I live in Oxfordshire, UK. While I don't work I am busy looking after our horses, they are a full time job!
What is your connection to Switzerland? Have you been born there, or do you have some roots in Switzerland?
My father was Swiss and grew up in Lausanne, I spent 6 years at school there, and still have family there who I visit several times a year.
What is the thing that you miss about Switzerland the most?
Apart from missing the wonderful food, I think just being in a country with mountains and stunning scenery
What do you think is better or do you like more in your new country?
Both Switzerland and the UK have their good points, as long as I can travel from one to the other several times a year I can enjoy both.
Do you have any plans of returning soon? For vacations or permanently.
I spent last Christmas in Switzerland, then again in February to ski and hopefully two weeks in the summer. It was hard during COVID restrictions when we couldn't travel and see the Swiss family.
